This campground is more of a resort than a campground, but we decided to splurge a little bit as a part of our longer journey to Flathead Lake, Montana. Our stay here covered four days, and it was trouble free.
The park is easy to find, being right off I-90 in Liberty Lake, Washington, just a few miles east of Spokane, and just west of the Idaho border. From westbound I-90, it’s almost a straight shot to the campground, with the only turn being a left into the park itself. On entering the park, the office is on the left with two staging spaces on the right. The staging spaces are a little short if you’re driving a 40-foot motorhome and towing a Jeep behind, but we had no issues pulling in. The Jeep just hangs out a bit in the back.
Check in was pretty easy. We actually made a faux pas and incorrectly scheduled our stay for one day less than we needed. However, the staff was able to quickly remedy the situation, and got us our extra day. We requested a pull through site, with full hookups, which include 50amp electric service, as well as water and sewer connections. The site that we got was also approximately 90 feet long, which more than accommodated Grizz and Jasper. The site itself (as with all sites at the campground) are clean and well maintained, with deep green grass matched with a poured concrete pad. The pad was mostly level, with very little front-to-back elevation change.
We were also escorted to our spot by the staff, who took the time to explain our connection options to us. Of note, the sewer connection is painted green, while a secondary blue pipe is for maintenance access. Do not attempt to connect your stinky slinky to the blue pipe! It’ll be a mess.
The pedestal is clean and functional, with no surprises. Power received through the 50-amp connection was even and there appeared to be no dropouts, even with everyone running their air conditioners on a hot June day. There is also a coaxial cable connection for the free basic cable television on the pedestal. However, we didn’t take advantage of it during our stay.
Communications
We did stay in one evening, and I was able to pick up 51 digital TV broadcasts over the air. Although some of these channels seemed to repeat, there was enough variety to keep us entertained for an hour or two before bed.
Internet connectivity provided by the campground was a bit spotty. When it was available, it was very slow. Dial up slow. However, Verizon service in the area was strong, and we simply used our phone as a 5G mobile hotspot.
Facilities
We didn’t really take advantage of the facilities, as the Grizz is fully self-contained, so no need for the bathhouse, restrooms, etc. There is a pool, but it was closed due to COVID restrictions, as was the recreation room. I did get a look at the pool as we were passing by, and it did appear to be clean and well maintained.
Garbage disposal is self-service, as is normal at most campground. Dumpsters are placed strategically throughout the park, and we had no problem disposing of our trash.
Since this is a dog friendly park, you’ll also find doo-bags and cans throughout the park. There is also a dog run area behind the last row of sites, so Fido can run free for a short way.
Noise level from I-90 was minimal, and we had no problem having conversations outside. While inside the motorhome, we couldn’t even hear the highway traffic.
Summary
While the Liberty Lake RV Campground may be a little spendy ($74/night with discount), if your going to be in the Spokane Valley area for more than a day or two, I’d recommend it be placed high on your list. The friendly staff, clean and well-maintained facilities, and the proximity to services (fuel, restaurants, etc) make this campground a great place to stay.
Amenities
Here is a short list of amenities that we noted while we were there. As mentioned, the campground is on the edge of the city of Spokane Valley. Driving west on Sprague Avenue will give you access to a variety food and shopping locations. Also, Post Falls, ID is just a short jaunt on I-90, where you can find even more options, including outlet stores.
